I’m James the founder of OneHourSmartHome.com. First off, thanks for being here and helping support this website, you are appreciated.

I created One Hour Smart Home to help people automate their homes and lives using smart home technology.

Smart home tech has the profound potential to make our lives easier, save energy and keep us safe. When I started researching smart home technology in 2012 there were limited resources for the average person to learn about smart homes. So I decided to do something about it, and I created this website to help people learn about smart homes and smart home devices.

As time has passed smart homes have evolved and smart home devices like the Nest Thermostat, Ring Doorbell and Amazon Alexa have created a whole new category of accessible smart home technology was previously unavailable to the average homeowner or renter.

Now with the hundreds of smart devices out on the market we’ve found that what people want is real world testing and reviews of smart home devices. So we share our experiences with you to help you find the right smart devices for your smart home.

We also help answer your smart home questions and provide you with DIY smart home project advice to help you complete your latest smart home project.

My background is in engineering and contracting and I have installed thousands of smart home devices and helped thousands more learn how to install smart home devices themselves.

When I’m not working on this website I enjoy being outdoors, biking, boating and walking my dog “Moose”.

We also have DIY tutorials and answer your questions on our Youtube Channel which is loaded with smart home content.
